If you’re Overlanding, wouldn’t a great paint job be the first casualty in the rough and wild theater of the war on gravity, weather, and the elements?

You’d be right and wrong, actually. Project Artemis started out as a tribute to the fastest-growing segment of classic trucks: the Nineties-era Ford F-Series, unofficially known as OBS (Old Body Style). And there are two main characteristics of the OBS trucks: the sharper-edged sheetmetal design that was the transition between the spare bullnose style of the Eighties and sheer increase in girth of the early 2000s, and the paint schemes.

Project Artemis celebrates the OBS era with its combination of all things Nineties-era paint: a pearl white base with complementary teal and blue body stripes, complete with a highly stylized snowcapped-mountain-peak theme. The combination is at once a little Garth Brooks country and a little Dave Matthews rock-n-roll.

We put Kurt, Crystal, and the KTL team to work, figuring out how to perfectly execute this ultimate OBS custom paint scheme. Along with our friends at POR-15, Glasurit, BASF, and SATA, Addie Warren – a member of Girls Behind The Gun – helped lay down everything from the Lizard Skin undercoating to the custom paint that will define Project Artemis.

Keep watching, as Project Artemis comes together in time for Overland Expo this Fall!
